The competition is heating up on Mnet’s new idol survival show “Queendom Puzzle”!

A spin-off of the hit survival show “Queendom,” “Queendom Puzzle” features idols—including members of currently active girl groups—battling for spots in a new seven-member project girl group. Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon, who previously hosted the second season of “Queendom,” serves as the show’s MC.

Last week, “Queendom Puzzle” began by ranking its 28 contestants into four tiers based on their groups’ past popularity and success. (The tiers were calculated based 50 percent on each contestant’s number of music show wins and 50 percent on their highest first-week album sales.)

However, the show soon revealed that the contestants would be assigned new tiers through its first round of competition: the “Up-Down Battle.” Each contestant took the stage to perform by herself, and the other 27 contestants voted either “Up” or “Down” while watching her performance. If they thought the performer was better than them, they voted “Up,” and if they thought the performer was worse than them, they voted “Down.”

Check out all of the performances from the second episode—as well as the contestants’ results—below! (You can also watch the performances from last week’s episode here.)

After the contestants had been ranked into new tiers, they moved on to the next round of competition: a “7 versus 7” team battle.

For this battle, the contestants were tasked with performing one of the show’s two brand-new signal songs, “SNAP” and “Charismatic.” The idols split up into four teams of seven members each, and each song was performed by two teams in a head-to-head competition.

First, the contestants were given the opportunity to choose which song they wanted to perform between “SNAP” and “Charismatic.” As there were only 14 slots per song, the contestants got to choose in the order of their results from the Up-Down Battle, meaning that the final contestant—tripleS’s Seoyeon—was automatically assigned to “Charismatic.”

Then, the single highest-ranking contestant for each song was given the power to create her own seven-member team (called the “PICK” team), leaving the remaining contestants to automatically form the opposing team (called the “DROP” team). Cherry Bullet’s Bora was the highest-ranking contestant for “SNAP,” while her bandmate Jiwon was the highest-ranking contestant for “Charismatic.”

The teams, as created by Bora and Jiwon, are as follows:

“SNAP” Teams

PICK: Cherry Bullet’s Bora, CLC’s Yeeun, WJSN’s Yeoreum, LIGHTSUM’s Sangah, PURPLE KISS’s Yuki, H1-KEY’s Riina, and Cherry Bullet’s Chaerin

DROP: Weki Meki’s Elly, Shiroma Miru, Dohwa (AOA’s Chanmi), Lovelyz’s Kei, H1-KEY’s Hwiseo, Fye, and Rocket Punch’s Takahashi Juri

“Charismatic” Teams

PICK: Cherry Bullet’s Jiwon, woo!ah!’s Nana, Lee Chae Yeon, tripleS’s Jiwoo, Weeekly’s Soeun, woo!ah!’s Wooyeon, and Weeekly’s Jihan

DROP: Rocket Punch’s Suyun, LABOUM’s Haein, tripleS’s Seoyeon, MOMOLAND’s JooE, Weeekly’s Lee Soojin, Weeekly’s Zoa, and Rocket Punch’s Yeonhee

However, as previously revealed ahead of last week’s premiere, Lee Chae Yeon and LABOUM’s Haein both dropped out of the show for personal reasons before filming their Round 2 performances.
