Watch: Girl Group Main Vocalist Wows With Cover Of MAMAMOO's Hwasa On "The King Of Mask Singer"

The main vocalist of a rising girl group impressed the crowd with her talent on the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer”!

During the July 9 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants entered the ring to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the first match-up of Round 1, “Rubber Basin Red” and “Truck Blue” went head-to-head with a duet version of Kim Hyun Chul’s “The Downfall of the Moon.”

After watching their performance, the panelists heaped praise on Rubber Basin Red for her gorgeous voice. Although everyone agreed that her expert singing made it clear she was a professional singer, some guessed that she was an idol, while others wondered if she was a musical actress.

To offer another clue to her identity, Rubber Basin Red showed off her dancing skills by briefly covering snippets of Red Velvet‘s “Red Flavor” and HyunA‘s “RED.”

To the panel’s loudly voiced disappointment, Rubber Basin Red ultimately lost the round to her opponent by a difference of just three votes (48 votes to his 51).

She then remained behind on stage to perform a soulful rendition of MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa‘s solo hit “Maria“—and halfway through the song, she took off her mask to reveal that she was Billlie’s main vocalist Haram.

Explaining why she had decided to appear on the show, Haram remarked, “I wanted to be evaluated as a singer without showing my face. So I felt really proud today.”

Haram went on to reveal that she had attended the same high school as EXO‘s Baekhyun—and that during her school days, she was the lead singer of the same band that Baekhyun sang in back when he was in high school (nearly a decade earlier).

Finally, when asked about her goals for the future, Haram replied, “I’d like for more people to know about our group Billlie, and I also really want to perform at the MBC Entertainment Awards.”
