2023 MTV VMAs Announces New Nominations Including Jungkook, BLACKPINK, TXT, FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, And SEVENTEEN
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) has revealed its second batch of nominations!
On September 1 local time, MTV officially announced this year’s nominees for four Video Music Awards: Song of Summer, Show of the Summer, Group of the Year, and Album of the Year.
BTS’s Jungkook, TXT, and FIFTY FIFTY all scored nominations for Song of Summer: Jungkook for his official solo debut single “Seven” featuring Latto, TXT for their Jonas Brothers collab “Do It Like That,” and FIFTY FIFTY for their viral hit “Cupid.”
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK was nominated for Show of the Summer for their ongoing “BORN PINK” world tour.
BLACKPINK earned the most nominations of any group this year, having been nominated for six different awards: in addition to Show of the Summer and Group of the Year, BLACKPINK was previously nominated for Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best K-Pop (all for “Pink Venom”).
Meanwhile, TXT scored the most nominations of any male K-pop group this year, having been nominated in four different categories: before Song of Summer and Group of the Year, TXT was previously nominated for Push Performance of the Year and Best K-Pop (both for “Sugar Rush Ride”).
FIFTY FIFTY and SEVENTEEN are also in the running for two awards each, as they have been nominated for both Group of the Year and Best K-Pop.
As previously announced, this year’s nominees for Best K-Pop are aespa’s “Girls,” BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom,” FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid,” SEVENTEEN’s “Super,” Stray Kids’ “S-Class,” and TXT’s “Sugar Rush Ride.”
In the meantime, voting for Show of the Summer will open on on September 3 local time, Group of the Year on September 4, and Song of Summer on September 7. (You can vote on MTV’s official website here.)
