Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, And More Form An Unusual Family In Upcoming Drama "Bitter Sweet Hell"
MBC’s upcoming drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has released its first poster!
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is a new black comedy starring Kim Hee Sun as Noh Young Won, the top family psychiatrist in all of Korea. When an anonymous blackmailer puts Young Won’s career and family at risk, she teams up with her mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young), a mystery novelist, to protect their family. The drama is a collaboration between writer Nam Ji Yeon of “So I Married the Anti-Fan” and producing director Lee Dong Hyun, who helmed “Doctor Lawyer” and “She Knows Everything.”
Kim Hee Sun will star as Noh Young Won, Korea’s most famous family counselor, who is loved by the general public. Lee Hye Young will play Noh Young Won’s mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang, a mystery novelist who is a devoted mother to her only son, Choi Jae Jin.
Kim Nam Hee will star as Choi Jae Jin, Noh Young Won’s husband and a famous plastic surgeon, while Kwon Hae Hyo will play Noh Young Won’s father-in-law Choi Go Myun. DKZ’s Jaechan will play Choi Do Hyun, Noh Young Won and Choi Jae Jin’s handsome son, who is brilliant and well-mannered.
The newly released poster shows a family photo that captures all five members of Noh Young Won’s family with different facial expressions. Noh Young Won is captured smiling elegantly, Choi Do Hyun has a faint smile on his face, and Hong Sa Gang is wearing a serious expression, while Choi Jae Jin and Choi Go Myun smile brightly for the camera.
The dim glow of a flashlight casts light on the faces of the family members, revealing mysterious numbers beside each of them. These numbers, starting with “1” next to Choi Go Myun, “2” for Choi Jae Jin, “3” for Hong Sa Gang, “4” beside Choi Do Hyun, and finally “5” for Noh Young Won, create an unsettling atmosphere. The poster’s caption, “How is your family?”, piques viewers’ curiosity about the significance of the numbers assigned to each of the family members and what might have happened to them.
The production team of “Bitter Sweet Hell” commented, “The mysterious numbers assigned to each member of Noh Young Won’s family have a significant meaning,” adding, “Please look forward to ‘Bitter Sweet Hell,’ which will be a unique kind of black comedy unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”
“Bitter Sweet Hell” will premiere on May 24 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
