Shin Min Ah, Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk, And Lee Se Young’s New Drama “The Remarried Empress” Confirms Broadcast Plans

Disney+’s upcoming drama “The Remarried Empress” has unveiled its broadcast plans!

Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “The Remarried Empress” is a fantasy romance that tells the story of Navier, the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire. When her husband Sovieshu, the emperor of the Eastern Empire, cheats on her and divorces her, Navier gets married to Heinrey, the prince of the Western Empire.

Shin Min Ah plays Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire. Navier is a beloved ruler known for her intelligence and natural grace. Although devastated by an unexpected divorce notice from Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon), her childhood friend and longtime companion, she regains her footing and demands remarriage to Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Kingdom.

Ju Ji Hoon has been cast as Emperor Sovieshu, a ruler with absolute authority. Raised and educated alongside Navier since childhood, he becomes a powerful monarch. However, he breaks his lifelong promise to her, having once vowed never to take a concubine, and shocks her by demanding a divorce.

Lee Jong Suk takes on the role of Heinrey, the crown prince of the Western Empire who carries a mysterious secret. Heinrey is a captivating figure who draws attention wherever he goes, often trailed by rumors. Though he approaches Navier with hidden motives, he gradually falls for her. Their unpredictable romance is expected to win the hearts of viewers worldwide.

Lee Se Young plays Rashta, a runaway slave known for her stunning beauty. After learning that the man who rescued her in the hunting grounds is the emperor of the Eastern Empire, Rashta begins to yearn for a life she never imagined possible.

A stellar cast of trusted actors rounds out the lineup. Lee Bong Ryun plays Countess Eliza, the head lady in waiting of the Western Palace where Navier resides. Eliza is the only person in whom Navier confides her true thoughts.

Choi Dae Hoon portrays Lord McKenna, Heinrey’s secretary. Constantly concerned by Heinrey’s unpredictable behavior, McKenna is a loyal aide who never hesitates to deliver blunt advice and sharp criticism.

Veteran actor Park Ho San takes on the role of Viscount Lotteshu, the former master of Rashta. Known for his cruel and ruthless demeanor, Lotteshu holds a dangerous secret about Rashta that must never reach the emperor. His character is expected to raise the stakes and build suspense throughout the series.

Jung Young Joo is set to play Albani. After her husband, Grand Duke Liltang, who is Emperor Sovieshu’s uncle, attempts a coup and loses both his title and land, Albani adopts Rashta as her foster daughter in a calculated move to reclaim her family’s power and pursue her hidden ambitions.

Nam Yoon Ho has been cast as Baron Lante, the secretary to Emperor Sovieshu. As Sovieshu’s most trusted aide, Lante also maintains discreet communication with Eliza, the head lady in waiting to the empress.

At the script reading held on May 13, the actors gathered to share their passion for the characters and the project. Shin Min Ah said, “Because this is such a beloved original work, I feel both nervous and excited. I hope viewers will look forward to how the story is brought to life and to seeing the beautiful scenes on screen.”

Ju Ji Hoon commented, “I am happy to be part of this powerful world from the original story, and I also feel a deep sense of responsibility. I think we will be able to deliver something fresh and exciting.”

Lee Jong Suk remarked, “When I heard that ‘The Remarried Empress’ would be adapted into live action, I was truly excited. I believe it will turn into a fun and original project.”

Lee Se Young added, “I am happy to play Rashta. The fantasy setting mixed with romance will offer a lot of fun moments for viewers.”

“The Remarried Empress” will be directed by Jo Soo Won of “I Hear Your Voice,” “Pinocchio,” and “30 but 17,” while the script will be written by Yeo Gee Na of “The Uncanny Counter” along with and Hyun Chung Yeol of “Brave Citizen.” The drama is set to premiere in 2026 via Disney+.
