Popular Korean Groups Win Awards At MTV VMAJ

DBSK (TVXQ) and Big Bang showed off their star power in Japan on Sunday by taking home the awards they were nominated for at the annual MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan.

Big Bang, nominated for Best New Artist Video (“Gara Gara Go”) and Best Pop Video (“Let Me Hear Your Voice”), won both awards. They were up against acts like Keri Hilson, Leona Lewis, Koda Kumi, and Taylor Swift. Group member G-Dragon also managed to take home a Best Collaboration award for his song “Rain is Fallin’” with w-inds.

Fellow Korean group DBSK (TVXQ) was a no show, but managed to win the Best Group Video award for “Share the World”. The boys were up against groups like Tokyo Jihen, the Backstreet Boys, and the Black Eyed Peas.

In addition to accepting their awards, Big Bang performed “Gara Gara Go” and “Hands Up” for the audience.

Korean girl group 2NE1 was also in attendance. While not nominated for an award, they were invited to perform their song, “Fire”.
