2NE1 to Make TV Appearance in Japan before Official Debut

2NE1 hasn’t even officially debuted in Japan yet, but they’ve already booked a live TV spot. “2NE1 will appear on TV Asahi’s ‘Music Station’ on March 11th before their official Japanese debut this spring,” Japan’s Sankei Sports reported yesterday. 2NE1 would become the first foreign artist to appear on TV before releasing an official album in Japan. YG Entertainment said this is a “very encouraging sign” as they haven’t done any official promotions in Japan yet.

It has been reported 2NE1’s TV appearance was set up by their Japanese agency Avex, who rigorously promoted them as a group with exceptional musical skills and leading fashion sense. Japanese media has been showing a lot of interest in 2NE1, describing them as “Big Bang’s little sister group,” or a “big-time girl group from Korea.” 2NE1 has won over 30 music awards and received more than 65 million YouTube video clicks since their debut in 2009. They are scheduled to release their first Japanese single “Go Away” this spring.
