Celeb Airport Style: The Sunglasses Edition

Today, we’re reprising one of the articles we wrote last weekend: K-Pop Idols’ Airport Style!  But don’t worry, we’re not rehashing old content: This time, we present you with the very special Sunglasses Edition!  It just so happened that almost every single K-Pop idol in the world converged upon Incheon International Airport yesterday.  As stated earlier, most of them were traveling to perform in MBC’s 50th anniversary concert in Bangkok, but a few others were traveling to other places.  In any case, no matter where they were headed, it’s almost as though they are all obeying some top-secret celebrity code of conduct on “How To Accessorize At The Airport”, with Rule #1 being “YOU MUST WEAR SUNGLASSES!”  Now, we personally don’t hold with wearing sunglasses indoors, but then we don’t have people trying to photograph us after long, tiring flights and busy weekends!  So we totally understand, all the while giving props to the few brave souls who chose to show their beautiful faces, among them being 2AM’s Jinwoon, 2NE1’s Minzy and Park Bom, SNSD’s Sunny, and CN Blue’s Yonghwa!  We salute you.

Last time, we found that we could divide the article pretty thematically by pop group, but this time the styles were definitely more across the board.  So let’s do it by style, okay?

Dressy: SNSD’s Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, Seohyun, and Jessica; T-Ara’s Jiyeon and Qri; 2AM’s Jinwoon and Seulong; FT Island’s Hong Gi.  These celebrities know that there’s no excuse for not putting some effort into your appearance, because the paparazzi are following you EVERYWHERE!  Required accessories include designer handbag (or at least an LV wallet, if you’re a guy), oversized sunglasses, and high-heeled ankle boots for the ladies.

Comfortable: Secret’s Zinger; T-Ara’s Boram; SISTAR’S Dasom; miss A’s Suzy; KARA’s Seungyeon; Wonder Girls’ Ye Eun; SNSD’s Taeyeon and Tiffany (well, we assume that’s Tiffany).  This is the practical contingent of people who say, “Why would you get dressed up to go on a flight?  It’s an AIRPLANE, not a fashion show!”  Then, when all the dressed-up folk are uncomfortably adjusting their clothes and checking for wrinkles and stains during the long flight, these folks just sit back in their sweats and sneakers, relax, and smile.  Now that’s cool.

Edgy: miss A’s Jia; 2NE1’s Minzy and Sandara; Son Dam Bi; 2AM’s Jokwon; Brown-Eyed Girls’ Jea; MBLAQ’s G.O.  Torn, acid-washed jeans?  Check.  Skeleton jacket?  Check.  Leather spike choker?  Check.  Last but not least, lots of leather and lots of black?  Check, check.  These guys know that the best way to clear the path in a crowded airport is to give people a reason to stand back.  Don’t mess with them!

Casual: T-Ara’s Hyomin; Brown-Eyed Girls’ Ga In; Wonder Girls’ Sohee and Hye Lim; After School’s Nana, Raina. and Hwayoung; Secret’s Ji Eun; 2AM’s Changmin; MBLAQ’s Changdong; CNBlue’s Yonghwa and Minhyuk.  At first glance, there might not be a lot to differentiate these people from the dressed up category: The guys still clutch their LV wallets, the gals still don their stylish sunglasses, and overall, they look equally terrific. But on second look, the down-to-earth details emerge: looser-fitting clothing, a few holes in the jeans, sneakers instead of heels. 

And the rest: 4minute’s HyunA and Sohyun; SISTAR’s Bora and Hyorin; 2NE1’s CL and Park Bom; After School’s Jungah; Secret’s Hyosung; miss A’s Fei; and Brown-Eyed Girls’ Narsha.  What can we say?  Short shorts with high heels?  Sheer top with black bra?  Lots and lots of bright red plaid?  We think these styles defy categorization.  What would you call these styles?
