YGE to Launch Web Broadcasting Channel “YG On Air”

YG Entertainment will launch a web-based broadcasting channel, “YG On Air” tomorrow, the agency said through the YG Official blog. To celebrate the occasion, 2NE1’s Park Bom will give a live performance of her new single “Don’t Cry” tomorrow (4/29) on the channel.

The management agency explained, “’YG On Air’ is a video content channel produced by YGE. It’s basically a web-based broadcasting channel developed under the premise of producing idea-based, creative contents. What most stands out about ‘YG On Air’ is that it’s not restricted to a certain format. For example, just like tomorrow’s first live concert by Park Bom that will be shown at 6:05 PM, we’ll have live performances by the likes of Big Bang and 2NE1 in a casual, easy-going setting. Also, we’ll have radio-style live shows where our artists can directly interact with the fans. This channel will also serve as the quickest platform to deliver new music videos and behind-the-scene videos.”

YGE added they will partner with Korea’s largest portal website, Naver, for this project, while they plan to unveil season three of “2NE1 TV” and other exclusive concerts only through “YG On Air.” It will also provide subtitle services through certain channels such as YG-Life and YouTube in order to reach overseas fans as well. “It’s hard to tell how regularly we’ll be airing shows on this channel, buy 2NE1 will give a live cover performance of Park Bom’s ‘Don’t Cry’ next Friday,” YGE added.

Not sure how this Internet-based broadcast will pan out in the future, but so far it looks like a great idea—at least we’re getting two awesome live performances by Park Bom and 2NE1 in two consecutive weeks!
