Davichi Is Number One for Three Weeks in a Row
Duo Davichi is taking the Korean music industry by storm.
On September 23, Davichi’s “Don’t Say Goodbye” was reported as the number one song for the third week in a row on K-pop charts. What makes this a feat is the fierce competition between idol groups and singers who made their comebacks this month, including Kara, Sistar, Brown Eyed Girls and Sung Shi Kyung.
It has been four months since Davichi’s comeback, but that doesn’t mean that their popularity has deflated. It is receiving good replies from fans from foreign countries as well. In regards to their number one spot on the charts, foreign fans said, “It’s because they’re that good” and “Even though they had a few mistakes, they made it to the number one spot.”
On the September 18, Davichi was the star of the Mutizen song on SBS’s “Inkigayo”. It was the first trophy that Kang Min Kyung and Lee Haeri received in two years and six months. Way to go girls!
“Don’t Say Goodbye” is a song that embodies the talents of the two members. Lee Haeri’s appealing vocals, combined with Kang Min Kyung’s feminine voice, set a melancholy theme. The delicate sounds of string instruments and the classic sounds of the piano add to the mood as well.
Following behind Davichi in second place is Huh Gak, with “Hello”. In third place is Kara’s “Step”, followed by Sung Shi Kyung’s “I Like You”. Other songs (following from fourth place downwards) are Jia‘s “I Hope It’s You”, Leessang‘s “Turned Off the TV”, and B.E.G.’s “Hot Shot”.
