"Dream High" Kim Soo Hyun's New Drama Takes Wed-Thurs Night by the Storm + Jung Il Woo Feels Burdened

New MBC drama “The Moon That Embraces the Sun,” starring “Dream High’s” Kim Soo Hyun, “Witch Yoo Hee’s” Han Ga In, “Baby-Faced Beauty’s” Kim Min Seo, and “Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’s Jung Il Woo, drew in impressive ratings for its first two episodes. The fantasy historical sageuk drew in 18% and 19.9% on Wednesday and Thursday night respectively (data from AGB Nielsen). Gu Hye Sun’s “Please Take Care of the Captain” brought in 9.2% and 10.5%, while Lee Dong Wook’s “Wild Romance” fell behind with 7.% and 6.7%.

In the first two episodes, ZE:A’s Siwan captivated viewers with a charismatic acting debut as Yeon Woo’s (later played by Han Ga In) brother Heo Yeom (later played by Song Jae Hee), the Crown Prince Lee Hwon (later played by Kim Soo Hyun) teacher.

Actor Jung Il Woo, who plays Prince Yang Myung, Lee Hwon’s half-brother and second in line for the throne, expressed his excitement and confessed that he felt burdened now that the bar has been set so high. Jung Il Woo stated, “I’m glad we received such high ratings. However, now I feel slightly burdened. I really enjoyed all the work the child actors and sunbaenims put into the drama, and they helped me catch some parts I didn’t fully understand.” He added, “As with any other projects, I try to put my all into my characters, so that I don’t have any regrets. I’ll try my best to become one with my Yang Myung character.”

“The Moon that Embraces the Sun” is written by Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote last year’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” starring JYJ’s YoochunPark Min YoungSong Joong Ki, and Yoo Ah In.
