"The Thieves" Opens to International Buyers at the Hong Kong Film Mart

“The Thieves,” the film boasting of an A-list cast led by Lee Jung Jae, Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun, participated in the Hong Kong Film Mart in hopes of generating more buzz and securing more international buyers, particularly in mainland China, Japan, the America and Europe. It had previously snapped up opportunities at the European Film Market.

The film’s premise centers on a heist involving a diamond hidden in a Macau casino. It was shot on location in Macau and Korea, and also features Chinese actors as “The Thieves” cast counterparts. Curiosity about the film is heightened by its all-star ensemble, as well as its being known as a Korean take of the Hollywood movie “Ocean’s Eleven.”

“The Thieves” is planned for a late summer release in South Korea.
