Kim Bum Cast in Upcoming Hong Kong Action Thriller Film

Actor Kim Bum has been cast for the upcoming action thriller film, “Detective Dee: The Prequel,” which will be directed by the world-renowned Tsui Hark.

Tsui Hark is one of Hong Kong’s most famous directors, who has directed numerous hits for many years. He has been acknowledged by many international film festivals and has even participated as a judge in the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

Kim Bum will also be working alongside top actors such as William Feng, Angelababy, Mark Chao and Kevin Lin.

He has already reached a heightened level of popularity in China through his drama, “Boys Over Flowers.” Kim Bum has also garnered a strong fanbase through “Padam Padam,” which was aired earlier this year. After recently finishing  filming for the Korean film, “Miracle,” he selected “Detective Dee: The Prequel” as his next project.

Kim Bum commented, “I grew up with Tsui Hark’s action movies and he is someone who I respect a lot. I thought, when will I ever get a chance to work with Tsui Hark again if I don’t take this part? So I’m very happy and as much as this is a great opportunity, I will give my best effort.”

“Detective Dee: The Prequel” is set to be released next year and has already begun filming in Hengdian World Studios in China.

Kim Bum is expected to leave for China at the end of August to officially begin filming.
