“The Guardian” Claims PSY Is a One-Hit Wonder While Girls’ Generation Will Last

Does Girls’ Generation have what it takes to make it in the American and European markets?

On November 17, British daily newspaper “The Guardian” wrote a piece about PSY and Girls’ Generation. The author quotes Steve McClure, executive editor of McClure’s Asia Music News. “Psy is by definition a one-off and I’d be surprised if he had another international hit, but bands like Girls’ Generation have more staying power. The question is: will K-pop become a permanent fixture? I don’t know, but I have a feeling that Girls’ Generation will stick round for a while.” Click here to read the rest of the article.

The article also mentions Super Junior and 2NE1 who are both rumored to be preparing to release English material for the international market. Soompiers, do you think PSY is a one-hit wonder? And who will be the next Korean artist/group to receive the international spotlight?
