Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – September Week 3
This week’s music chart was delayed due to the Chuseok holiday in Korea.
Kara once again proves that they are the queens of our Soompi Chart. Their latest hit “Damaged Lady” moves up 11 notches to take over the No. 1 spot. Despite challenges from G-Dragon with multiple songs and also last week’s top three hits, Kara managed to hold off all of them and scored their sixth No. 1 song on our chart. “Damaged Lady” is the title song from Kara’s fourth full length album “Full Bloom.” It is a mixture of French pop and rock sounds. The lyrics are about a woman who is going to break up with her boyfriend.
G-Dragon storms into the top ten with a trio of songs: “Black” at No. 4, “Who You?” at No. 5, and “Crooked” at No. 7. He has another two songs outside of the top 10. All five songs are coming from his second solo album “Coup D`Etat,” four years since his solo debut with “Heartbreaker.” Due to the fact that G-Dragon is promoting different songs on different media, not all of his songs are ranked in the TV Station rankings. That’s why so far we haven’t seen his songs hitting the top three yet. Let’s see if any of the songs stand out next week. Personally I like “Crooked” the best.
One other new song in the top 10 is at No. 7. Female soloist Navi scores her first top 10 hit in two years with “I Ain’t Going Home.” This song is very energetic and holds realistic lyrics about a woman who tells her boyfriend that she doesn’t want to go home. Geeks is also featured in this song, making it all the more anticipated by listeners.
