“Man From the Stars” Shin Sung Rok Filmed on Wires for Three Days

SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Man From the Stars” revealed behind the scenes stills showing actor Shin Sung Rok during his wire action scenes on February 6.

Shin Sung Rok, who plays scary villain Lee Jae Kyung, filmed for three days on wires at a height of 10 meters (32.8 feet) above the ground. The actor braved the freezing cold weather for the most important scene in Episode 14, broadcast on February 5.

Not only did he have to ensure that everything worked out with fellow actor Kim Soo Hyun, the cameras and stunt team, he also went through multiple rehearsals to make sure that his execution was on point as well as to prevent any safety incidents from occurring. Shin Sung Rok ended up requesting for the originally planned height to be raised even further to increase the tension during the scene.

The production team praised his efforts saying, “He showed his passion during filming and spared no effort, even lying on the ground despite the rainy weather. It must hard acting like a sociopath but he perfectly executed the wire action scenes, and we were amazed by his passion and wide spectrum of acting. Thanks to him, we were able to shoot the most impactful scene of Episode 14.”

Kim Soo Hyun and Shin Sung Rok had a tense confrontation in this scene, which left viewers with sweaty palms and nervous as to what would happen next. In reality, the two displayed consideration towards one another and created a warm atmosphere on set.

“Man from the Stars” has 6 episodes to go and airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 PM KST on SBS.
