Soo Hyun (Claudia) Kim Confirmed for Substantial Supporting Role in Avenger Sequel, "Avengers: Age of Ultron"
On March 5, The Walt Disney Company Korea revealed that actor Soo Hyun (Claudia) Kim has been confirmed for the Avengers sequel, “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” As her first official schedule since joining the cast of the film, Soo Hyun will attend the global premiere of “Captain America: Winter Soldier” in Los Angeles on March 13.
On landing the Hollywood film, Soo Hyun posted on her Twitter, “After a long wait, I’m so happy to be back with great news. I have a lot to do ahead of me, but for now, the words ‘Welcome to the Marvel Universe’ are amazing and kind of overwhelming. I was a fan of Marvel Comics, and if you really like something, looks like fate can make it happen.”
On Soo Hyun’s role in the film, other than that the actress has a substantial supporting role, Marvel Studios has yet to say anything. She has previously done several dramas, such as “7th Grade Civil Servant,” “Brain,” “Fugitive: Plan B,” and “Queen of Games,” but this will be Soo Hyun’s first movie role.
As important as her character is in the film, many Korean actresses auditioned for the role. One official who saw the auditions for the role said to TV Report, “Kim Soo Hyun did very well in the auditions. The ‘Avengers 2’ team was looking for someone with really good English, and Soo Hyun was a great match. Moreover, as a former supermodel, her tall and sleek physique didn’t hurt, either.”
“The Avengers,” released in 2012, was a huge blockbuster hit, bringing over 7 million to the theaters in Korea alone, and the anticipation for this upcoming sequel is high. Filming will start this spring, and the movie will be released in Korea in April of next year. Along with director Joss Whedon, the star-studded cast from the first film is back, featuring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlet Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, etc., as well as new actors to the series Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and James Spader.
