March 27, 1998 was the day when a small community for K-pop lovers was born. Since then, the small forum-only site has grown to be one of the representative gateways to Korean entertainment and culture. Despite all the changes and incidents (Never forgot “The Great Crash of 2005”) that Soompi has gone through in those sixteen years, Soompi still remains what it was in 1998: A welcoming home for fans of Korean Entertainment. To this day, Soompi has some of the best K-pop and K-drama fans on the website and the forums. We proudly call them: Soompiers.

Last year for our fifteenth anniversary, Soompi held the most epic of giveaways to show our appreciation to our beloved Soompiers (that’s you!) and a few awesome fellow K-Ent sites graciously offered their fifteen themed contributions.

This year, we would like to humbly just voice our gratitude to all the wonderful Soompiers who have stuck with us and to those who are a little bit new. Thank you for making Soompi your go-to site for all things K-Ent. Thank you for loving your artists, actors, and entertainers so passionately that it inspires us to work harder on bringing you closer to the Korean entertainment wolrd. Thank you so much for all the times you left lovely and thoughtful comments. What would Soompi be, without you, Soompiers?

The staff at Soompi have some exciting plans for this year, and while we can’t give any hints, we look forward to spending 2014 with you! We hope to continue and improve our reputation as a reliable and friendly resource for all our Korean entertainment needs!
