Hyun Bin’s “The Fatal Encounter” Is the Biggest Opening Day Box Office Hit of 2014

Actor Hyun Bin’s recently released movie “The Fatal Encounter” has surpassed two million viewers in theaters!

A Lotte Entertainment representative revealed, “As of May 5, the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) has recorded an accumulated total of over two millions viewers for ‘The Fatal Encounter.’”

On the movie’s opening day, it drew in over 280,000 moviegoers. Since the very first day, “The Fatal Encounter” has had a firm grasp of the number one spot in box office, making it the biggest release of 2014 yet. The movie has recorded the greatest opening day attendance out of all the movies released so far this year. Anticipation was high even before its release, as the movie also recorded the highest pre-sale numbers.

The movie brought in over one million viewers in its opening weekend alone. It took charge of the weekend box office’s top spot by a landslide and has been continuing its run for two consecutive weekends. “The Fatal Encounter” greatly exceeded its competitors, proving that it is a box office powerhouse.

“The Fatal Encounter” is a film that is based on real-life assassination attempt of King Jeongjo (played by Hyun Bin) that depicts his story one year after he has ascended the throne and the breathtaking 24 hours leading up to the attempted assassination. The movie portrays the tangled fates of those who must live, those who must die, and those who must be saved.

Directed by Lee Jae Gyu, the creator of MBC’s dramas “Damo,” “Beethoven Virus,” and “The King 2 Hearts,” this movie includes an impressive cast, as it stars Hyun Bin, Jo Jung Suk, Jo Jae Hyun, Han Ji Min, Kim Sung Ryung, Park Sung Woong and more.
