"The Joseon Gunman" Premiere Comes in Third Against Its Competition
The new Wednesday-Thursday drama on KBS “The Joseon Gunman” recorded viewer ratings of 8.4 percent.
According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “The Joseon Gunman” had 8.4 percent ratings across the country and 8.8 percent ratings in the Seoul Metropolitan area. The area that had the highest ratings was Daejeon, which recorded 13.2 percent of viewers. Going by sex and age, women in their 40s were really interested in the drama, as 19 percent in that category tuned in for the first episode.
Previously, the production team of the drama had predicted they would premiere with 8-9% ratings, which should set them on the road to double-digit ratings at the high point of its run.
The drama that previously held the same time slot, “Golden Cross,” premiered with ratings of 5.7 percent and its average ratings throughout its run was 8 percent.
“The Joseon Gunman” is an action drama that depicts the process of Joseon’s last swordsman turning into a gunman that becomes the hero of the masses. Lee Jun Ki and Nam Sang Mi are the leading actors.
Airing at the same time, SBS’s “You Are All Surrounded” recorded 11 percent in ratings and MBC’s “A New Leaf” recorded 9 percent in ratings.
