New Footage of Alleged Sexual Harassment of Suzy Released, Showing Angle Really Matters

Earlier today, a video was uploaded on Youtube with the title, “A different angle that clarifies the first part that caused controversy around Suzy at the water gun festival.” The short six-second video captures miss A‘s Suzy and the host of the event (MC) standing on a platform from a high back angle. It shows the male host extend his right hand behind Suzy to direct her further from the edge of the platform. There is no physical contact between the MC and Suzy as she turns her head and walks backwards from the edge.

The video was uploaded by Youtube user A Youtube Channel to provide counter evidence to claims put forth by some netizens that Suzy was sexually harassed by the male MC at the “Sinchon Water Gun Festival” she attended as the endorsement model for Sprite on July 26. It corresponds to the time-mark 0:24 of the original fancam video (below) that was the source of the sexual harassment controversy. This video, capturing Suzy and the MC from a low front angle, shows the MC extend his hand behind Suzy and Suzy turn around with a “hardened” expression from her smile. The video then cuts to another scene, not showing Suzy moving backward.

A second video from A Youtube Channel titled “”A different angle that clarifies the second part that caused controversy around Suzy at the water gun festival,” shows Suzy and the MC from the same angle as the user’s first video, but this time, we see the MC extend his hand again to direct Suzy forward, closer to the edge and the crowd. Once again, there seems to be no physical contact between the two. This video is meant to correspond to the time-mark 1:49 of the original fancam video (above). In the original fancam video angle, you can see that the MC’s hand did brush by her thigh as he tried to point her forward, which couldn’t be seen in the video taken from the back angle.

While the MC’s hand did brush past Suzy’s thigh, it seems claims of inappropriate touching of Suzy’s rear by the MC at those two specific moments are unfounded. This goes to show that angle really matters. Ask any selfie takers.

On July 27, reports first came out that Suzy may have been sexually harassed by the male MC at the “Sprite Shower” event at the Sinchon Water Gun Festival. Netizens were demanding an explanation and apology from the event coordinator after watching fan-taken videos of the event that seemingly showed her being inappropriately touched by the MC two times. This forced Suzy’s management, JYP Entertainment, to respond, saying that according to what they have assessed, the alleged sexual harassment seems not to have taken place.
