Choi Jin Hyuk Set to Enlist in Regular Army after Forgoing Police Role

Choi Jin Hyuk is set to enlist as an active duty military conscript, according to Korean media reports. The actor, who recently starred in tvN drama “Emergency Couple,” had looked set to join the Seoul police force as part of his mandatory military service.

As reported in March, the star had passed an examination process that would have allowed him to serve with the police, rather than the regular army. It seems that he has now had a change of heart, however. Media outlet Osen quotes an anonymous entertainment insider as saying, “He has decided that he would rather serve with the regular army.”

Under legal regulations, those who pass the police examination but then forgo police service are then obliged to enlist as regular conscripts.

On reports that stated that Choi Jin Hyuk would be enlisting at the end of August, the actor’s agency representatives said that no date has yet been fixed for Choi Jin Hyuk’s enlistment. In the meanwhile, explained the spokesperson, the star would “continue to do his best” for his current TV work.

Choi Jin Hyuk is currently appearing in the drama “Fated to Love You,” airing on Wednesdays and Thursdays on MBC.
