New Drama “Punch” Starts Off Third in Monday Drama Race

New SBS series “Punch” has finished third in the battle of the Monday 10 p.m. dramas. The series’ first episode aired on December 15, but was unable to reap more than 6.3 percent of the national viewing rate in Korea.

Figures released on the morning of December 16 by Nielsen Korea, an organization that monitors viewer rates, seemed to confirm that the drama may need more time to build a larger fan base if it is to win the Monday-Tuesday drama ratings war. According to Nielsen Korea’s report, MBC’s “Pride and Prejudice” managed to attract more viewers, with a score of 9.2 percent. “Punch” also finished behind KBS2’s “Healer,” which attained a viewer rating of 7.2 percent.

The statistics did reveal, however, that “Punch” managed to outscore “Secret Door,” its predecessor drama on SBS. The last episode of “Secret Door” attracted 5.2 percent of the viewer rate, according to Nielsen Korea figures.

Punch” airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on SBS.
