Yoo Jae Suk May Become First-Ever Grand Award Triple Crown Winner
After the 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards on December 30, Yoo Jae Suk may have the title of first-ever Grand Award Triple Crown winner.
Yoo Jae Suk recently won the Grand Award, or Daesang, at both the 2014 MBC Entertainment Awards and the 2014 KBS Entertainment Awards. He is a nominee for the SBS Grand Award as well, giving him a chance at winning the Triple Crown. If he does, he will be the first person ever to win a Grand Award from the all three major networks.
Two broadcasters have won Entertainment Grand Awards from two networks in a single year but nobody has won the Grand Award from all three networks in one year. Kang Ho Dong did it in 2008 and Yoo Jae Suk did it in 2009. Even in the Drama Awards, no actor has won the Grand Award from all three networks in one year.
The competition for the SBS Entertainment Grand Award is a three-way race: Yoo Jae Suk from “Running Man,” Kim Byung Man from “Law of the Jungle,” and Lee Kyung Kyu from “Healing Camp.” While Yoo Jae Suk had a large role in making “Running Man” the flagship variety program for SBS, he does face stiff competition from Kim Byung Man, who maintains the strong ratings of the survival program “Laws of the Jungle” and Lee Kyung Kyu, who preserves of concept and pride of the talk show “Healing Camp.”
The 2014 SBS Entertainment Awards will be aired live at 8:55pm KST.
