“January 7th, 2015, ten o’clock. That’s the time when I fell for you.”

Shin Se Gi, “Kill Me, Heal Me,” Episode 1.

Shin Se Gi (Ji Sung) grabs Oh Ri Jin’s (Hwang Jung Eum) hand and checks her watch, just before delivering this scene-stealing pick-up line.

With just the right blend of creepy, campy, and sexy, the guyliner-covered Ji Sung nailed it. Who knew following a character with dissociative identity disorder could be so much fun?

“If you’re not going to have me, don’t touch me.”

-Shin Se Gi, “Kill Me, Heal Me,” Episode 10.

Shin Se Gi can play hard to get, too. Is it me, or does that make him even more irresistible? (Sidenote: I am so using this on my next crush.)

“You can come over again. Anytime. Whenever you want.”

-Kim Joon (Lee Soo Hyuk), “Valid Love,” Episode 5.

Such casual words, but offered within the lingering haze of a passionate kiss? Oh, it is definitely on now.

“Thank you for being my eye candy.”

-Cha Dal Bong (Park Hyung Shik), “Persevere, Goo Hae Ra,” Episode 1.

Chalk this pick-up line as only fitting for a toothache. This guy’s a flirt. He’s cute, he’s confident, but who knows how many girls he’s used this one on?

“I told you not to be in danger. Don’t get hurt, don’t get sick. Listen, if you’re not with me, get hurt, break your nose, whatever. I don’t care. Just don’t do it in front of me.”

-Koo Seo Jin, “Hyde Jekyll, Me,” Episode 5.

If you’re one to send mixed signals, this one’s perfect.

Koo Seo Jin (Hyun Bin) saves Jang Ha Na (Han Ji Min) from a disastrous spill down the stairs, holding her close. He talks as if he cares about her. Then he says he doesn’t. Then he’s gone, leaving her wondering what the heck just happened. Feeling confused yet?

“The Han River is just a river.”

-Kang Ho Kyung (Lee Soo Kyung), “Hogu’s Love,” Episode 1.

Having a picnic, hanging out at the Han River, or going to Namsan Tower, does not constitute a date. Ho Kyung’s a straight shooter – and knows a bit about playing those boys like a street hustler.

“No one likes it when a man talks a woman’s ear off.”

-Kang Ho Kyung (Lee Soo Kyung) and company, “Hogu’s Love,” Episode 2.

The whole gang knows this tune. When it comes to the dating game: don’t talk too much.

“Don’t ever let her get bored.”

-Kang Ho Kyung (Lee Soo Kyung), “Hogu’s Love,” Episode 2.

Ho Gu (Choi Woo Shik) dutifully follows his sister’s advice, lending his earbuds to Do Hee (UEE) to entertain her with some music. “Hogu’s Love” is only two episodes in, and it’s already dropping some serious knowledge from the dating manual.

“I want to go to the beach.”

-Do Hee (UEE), “Hogu’s Love,” Episode 1.

Kang Ho Kyung (Lee Soo Kyung) confirms this one – when a girl says she wants to go to the beach, or eat something delicious, it’s a green light, gentlemen – she is interested!

This is when you ask her out – for some kickass food, or a trip to the beach. How simple is that?

We are in dating territory now. Friend Zone, be gone!

Keep it fresh, people. Date – and use pick-up lines – responsibly.
