CL Called “the Korean Rapper and Singer Who’s About to Take Over the U.S.” by Complex magazine
On February 18, rapper of girl group 2NE1 CL shared with her fans a couple of cuts from her spread with Complex magazine.
In the quirky and whimsical pictorial, CL rocks voluminous curly blonde hair, her trademark cat eye makeup, huge golden earrings, and denim on denim over a Moschino tube top. Through and through, even in a sea of stuffed animals, the rapper doesn’t lose her charisma.
In the corresponding article, Donnie Kwak of Complex praises CL’s talent and and her relevance to the American music scene, “The bold, unique solo records she has already released in Korea (‘The Baddest Female‘ and ‘MTBD‘ are what she calls ‘risky’ for K-pop but—minus the Korean rapping—would make perfect sense here. Musical ability aside, her fluency in English and unmistakably cool style are more significant than her affiliations.”
CL recently finished up music prep in the United States for her upcoming solo debut and is back in Korea. Her solo debut, slated for this spring, is being highly anticipated as news continues to spread of her collaboration with many of the industry’s best, including Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun and renowned producer Sean Garrett.
