INFINITE's Sunggyu's New Album

INFINITE‘s Sunggyu will finally be returning as a solo artist next month with his new album “27.” It has been confirmed that his whole album was produced by Kim Jong Wan, the frontman of the indie rock band Nell, who is known for writing stunning and powerful songs with poetic lyrics.

The album title “27” is likely a reference to Sunggyu’s age, as he is 27 years old according to the Korean system of counting age (but 25 years old according to Western reckoning).

The eponymous intro track “27” on the album was gifted to Sunggyu by Kim Jong Wan. According to reports, the song mixes synthesized sounds with fragments of distorted vocals that create an awesome way to start off the album.

This isn’t the first time Kim Jong Wan has composed a song for Sunggyu to record, as his first album “Another Me” featured the track “Shine,” which was written, composed, and produced by Kim Jong Wan. He has previously written songs for superstars like BoA, Park Ji Yoon, and Younha, but this is the first time that he’s produced an album that isn’t one of his own band’s.

Kim Jong Wan and Sunggyu are both part of the same agency Woolim. According to Woolim, “Nell’s Kim Jong Wan and Sunggyu are more than just a sunbae and hoobae at the same agency. Sunggyu dreamt of becoming a singer while he watched Kim Jong Wan, and even now if something important happens, he listens to Kim Jong Wan’s advice.”

This promises to be a really amazing collaboration between Sunggyu and Kim Jong Wan.

Are you excited to hear this album when it drops in early May?
