TVXQ's Yunho to Miss SMTOWN Japan Concerts Prior to Enlistment
TVXQ‘s Yunho, who has just confirmed his military enlistment date to be July 21, will not be participating in the upcoming SMTOWN concerts.
On July 5, “SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR IV in JAPAN Special Edition” will take place at Tokyo Dome in Japan. All SMTOWN artists including EXO, Super Junior, and Girls’ Generation and more will make their way to Japan to perform in the concert.
However, it was revealed that Yunho, who will be enlisting on July 21, will not be attending the concert. Meanwhile, his bandmate Changmin will be participating alone.
Yunho is currently filming SBS Plus‘s web drama “I Order You.” Yunho plays chef Gook Dae with Kim Ga Eun as the female lead. It has been confirmed to air starting July 5 through Naver TV Cast, and also on July 6 through SBS Plus. It will continue to air even after Yunho has enlisted, and will offer some comfort to fans.
Yunho is also planning on performing at the opening ceremonies of the Gwangju Universiade on July 3 as part of a mini musical, “Shadow of Youth.” He will also stand on stage at the closing ceremonies on July 14. It is likely that this will be Yunho’s last public appearance before his enlistment.
After Yunho enlists, Changmin will be focusing on his solo activities. Changmin is currently hard at work filming MBC‘s new Wednesday-Thursday fantasy melodrama “The Scholar Who Walks the Night.” He will play crown prince Lee Yoon, and will be part of a love triangle along with Lee Jun Ki and Lee Yoo Bi. Lee Yoon is a total playboy on the outside, but he is hiding his true self after his father’s death. Nothing is known about any solo music activities.
Meanwhile, Yunho will enlist on July 21 and after five weeks of preliminary training, he will serve in active duty for 21 months. SM Entertainment revealed that since Yunho wishes to enlist quietly, they will not be releasing the exact place nor time of his enlistment.
