CL Wants to Be the Next Psy?

On August 17, CL was selected as one of “10 New Artists You Need to Know” by Rolling Stone.

Being listed amongst other artists like Travis Mills, Snoh Aalegra, Cold Beat, and more, the 2NE1 member gets recognition for her impending U.S. debut and the collaborations she has accomplished thus far.

In the accompanying interview she says, “I don’t actually like calling myself a rapper. I’m more a performer. I don’t like to box myself into anything, because I also sing and I love to dance; I do everything.”

She also discusses how she feels about being considered a representative of Asia and K-Pop and comments, “I don’t want to take too much responsibility, where I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m representing Asia.’ I’d want to, of course, because I am Korean, and after Psy, there were no Asian artists out here doing music. I would love to represent Asian girls and be an example or an idol for girls [in the U.S.] That is my dream, but I don’t want that to be my main goal. I just want to do something I love, and music comes first for me.”

Meanwhile, CL is in the last stages of preparing her U.S. mini-album and has recently revealed a music video for “Doctor Pepper.” Also, she will be going on tour with MDBP (Mad Decent Block Party) until September 19.
