TVXQ's Yunho's Japanese Fan Club Donates to Underprivileged Students in Gwangju for 5 Years Running

It was revealed that Japanese fans of TVXQ‘s Yunho have been following in the Hallyu superstar’s footsteps, donating to Yunho’s home town, Gwangju, for five years in the running.

The Gwangju Community Chest revealed on September 14 that Yunho’s Japanese fan site, Jung Yunho Fan Blog Ring One, donated 500 kilograms of rice, which is worth about 1,500,000 KRW (approximately $1270).

This Japanese fan club has been donating to underprivileged students in Gwangju on Yunho’s birthday since 2011 in the form of scholarships, and throughout the years, they donated rice and CDs. Their donations over the five years amount to 84,000,000 KRW (approximately $71,000).

In an email that was exchanged between the fan club and the Gwangju Community Chest, the blog said, “We know of Yunho’s love for his hometown better than anyone, with everything from his last public performance before his enlistment last July at the Gwangju Summer Universiade, being the Gwangju Biennale ambassador in 2013, and his donations to the area.”

They also revealed the reason for their warm gestures, saying, “We wanted to add, if only a little bit, to Yunho’s warm heart in volunteering and donating to welfare facilities in Gwangju despite his busy schedule.”

Meanwhile, the 500 kilograms of rice that they donated will be relayed to single mother families and seniors living alone in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
