“Collective Invention” is gathering attention for its unique special effects. In the revealed clip, Lee Kwang Soo has plaster put on his face and upper body in order to form a fish-man mask.

The movie tells the story of a fish-man mutant who becomes a star overnight, then is in danger of becoming shunned by the world because of a drug company’s false accusations.

Lee Kwang Soo, who plays the role of the fish-man Park Goo, has to go through the process of applying plaster on his face two times. Even though it is a difficult procedure because he cannot open his eyes and must remain still for a long period, he doesn’t show any signs of tiredness.

The mask itself is 8 kilograms, with extra weight from the machine that controls the mouth’s movements. Even though parts of the scenes were taken in winter, Lee Kwang Soo can be seen sweating beneath the mask. Both the staff and fellow actors support him by holding his jaw.

Since its release, the clip has received over 30,000 likes, 4,000 comments, and 1,010,000 plays on Facebook.

Meanwhile, fans are eager to see Lee Kwang Soo make a dramatic character transformation. Many are also excited about Lee Chun Hee’s natural acting and Park Bo Young’s charms that will be different from any of her other pieces. Though “Collective Invention” is director Kwon Oh Kwang’s first full-length movie, he is already notable as the scriptwriter for the movie ‘Safe,” which received the Golden Palm award from the Cannes Film Festival. With his lead, he will be displaying a story that criticizes the media and social network through interesting characters.

“Collective Invention” has already received praise at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival and will also be screened at the Busan International Film Festival on October 1. The actual movie will open in theaters on October 22.
