PSY Discreetly Donated 500 Million Won for Pediatric Psychiatric Care

Thanks to a generous donation from PSY, Yonsei Severance Hospital was able to establish a new pediatric psychiatric treatment clinic. Though the new clinic is only just now getting press, it actually opened in November of last year.

According to a statement from representatives of both the entertainment industry and Yonsei Severance Hospital, PSY donated 500 million won (approximately $430,000) worth of proceeds from his album “Gentlemen” in September 2014, citing the desire to repay his domestic fans for their support and encouragement. Thanks to that donation, the “PSY Treatment Clinic” opened its doors on November 1, 2014.

“On average, the clinic sees between 20 and 30 patients a day, though sometimes we can see more than 30 patients in a single day,” said a representative from Yonsei Severance Hospital’s management support team. “In the last year, we’ve treated around 5,000 children.”

The treatment clinic is home to numerous treatment programs for a variety of different disorders, such as children who suffer from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), language development disorders, and those who fall in the autism spectrum, just to name a few.

It’s not YG Entertainment‘s first collaboration with Yonsei Severance Hospital, either. They’ve donated to the hospital on at least two different occasions; once in November 2011 through the public interest “With Campaign,” and once in December 2013 to the “Dream Gift Campaign,” which sponsored patients with heart disease.
