SHINee’s Jonghyun Wows With Classic K-Pop Cover on “Sugar Man”

SHINee member Jonghyun impresses the crowd (and 2NE1‘s Sandara Park!) with his cover of a classic K-Pop hit on JTBC‘s “Sugar Man”!

“Sugar Man” is a show that aims to turn former chart-topping tracks into modern hits that fit with 2015 trends. Special guests are invited to perform the songs each week, and the track with the highest number of votes is proclaimed the winner. It’s hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, Yoo Hee Yeol, Kim Eana, and Sandara Park.

Jonghyun performs a re-arranged version of Rich‘s hit song “Only the Words I Love You” on November 17’s episode of “Sugar Man.” He brings a fresh new take to the track and earns 54 votes for Yoo Jae Suk’s team, grabbing them the win against Yoo Hee Yeol’s team who gets 46 votes.

JTBC also uploaded an official rehearsal version of his performance, which is just as awesome! Check it out below.

Sandara Park expressed how impressed she was with Jonghyun’s performance on her Instagram. As part of the caption to a picture of the two of them backstage, she writes, “On music shows, we’d always be waiting backstage so I’d just hear his voice or see the back of his head, but now that I’ve seen a performance with my own eyes, I understand why everyone is all about SHINee!!!”
