Brown Eyed Girls’ JeA, Kahi, and Cheetah to Train Contestants on Mnet’s “Produce 101”

Brown Eyed Girls’s vocalist JeA, “Unpretty Rapstar’s” Cheetah, and soloist Kahi have been recruited to train the 101 trainees of Mnet’s mega-survival program, “Produce 101.” In addition to these performers, choreographer Bae Yoon Jung and vocal trainer Kim Sung Eun have been recruited for the show.

JeA and Kim Sung Eun will be in charge of vocals, Kahi and Bae Yoon Jung in charge of dance, while Cheetah will take care of the rap. “Produce 101” is a survival program like JYP’s “Sixteen” or Starship Entertainment’s “No.Mercy” that collected 101 female trainees from 46 agencies across the country with the goal of forming a project girl group. The public will be the “producers” of the show, selecting 11 members, as well as choosing the concept, debut song, and group name.

“I want to raise an artist with the know-how that I’ve collected over my years in this business,” Kahi said. Choreographer Bae Yoon Jung added, “I hope it will be a program that becomes an example to all trainees who dream of becoming idols.”

JeA said, “I want to teach the trainees what I’ve learned from my years as a girl group senior, and tell them my experiences.” Vocal trainer Kim Sung Eun expressed gratitude towards the show, saying, “I’m glad that everyone can come together and see trainees grow into full-fledged singers.”

Cheetah added her thoughts, saying, “This year idols and hip-hop received a lot of attention. I hope that next year many more talented idol rappers will be born.”

The main PD of the show said, “Since we have skilled trainers in every area, please anticipate the trainees’ growth.”

The “Producer 101” held their first public appearance together on Mnet’s “M Countdown” and performed an EDM song called “Pick Me.” On December 18, their official homepage, Facebook, and Naver TVCast were opened. By December 24, the profiles for all 101 trainees will be uploaded, while on December 27 the trainees will receive their first assessment from their trainers.

“Produce 101” will air in January 2016. Watch “Pick Me” below:
