16 Male Celebrities Who Might Join the Army in 2016
All Korean males must serve in the Korean army for 21 months, which often leads to K-pop groups missing members during promotions, or, more often, having to put a hold on group promotions altogether. The age limit for enlisting is 35, but most celebrities end up doing it in their late 20s. Since it’s currently 2016, celebrities with birthdays between 1986 or 1988 are most likely to head off to the Korean military this year. Here is a list of celebrities that are either confirmed to, or likely to enlist in 2016.
All five members of BIGBANG still need to complete their military service. T.O.P (born 1987) is the oldest member, so he is likely to go first.
Seo In Guk (born 1987) may be heading off to do his mandatory service sometime this year.
Lee Min Ho (born 1987) has been involved in project after project of late, possibly due to his impending military service. In recent news, reports state Lee Min Ho’s hit drama “Heirs” will be adapted into a film, co-produced between Korea and China.
Jang Geun Suk (born 1987) is currently a co-host on idol survival show “Produce 101” and is slated to act in the upcoming SBS drama “Daebak,” which airs in March. It’s possible “Daebak” may be his last show prior to enlistment.
Jung Il Woo (born 1987) has been cast for the upcoming drama “Cinderella and the Four Knights” (working title), a pre-produced work that is tentatively set to air this year, after which we may be seeing an enlistment announcement.
In a 2014 interview, Ji Chang Wook (born 1987) mentioned that he would most likely enlist in 2015. Seeing as he still hasn’t joined the army, 2016 may be the year for the star of “Healer.” He recently wrapped up filming for Chinese drama “Mr. Right.”
Kyuhyun (born 1988) held his most recent promotion back in October 2015 with his second mini album, “Fall, Once Again.” It remains to be seen whether Kyuhyun will continue his solo activities this year or enlist.
Fans are curious as to when Junsu (born 1986) will enlist, as he is currently in a relationship with EXID‘s Hani.
Song Kyungil (born 1987) joined History in 2013, and the group released their fourth mini album in March 2015.
Which celebrity will you miss the most while they complete their service?
