5 K-Dramas And Couples We Can't Wait To See In 2016

The second half of 2016 is going to be huge for K-drama fans. We have all experienced it: actors and dramas we love come and go, and we try to move on with our lives, and they move on to other projects. And we hate it. But this year, so many of the actors that we know and have missed sorely on the small screen are coming back. I’ve already said goodbye to weeks of my life, which I will undoubtedly be devoting to these dramas — and actors — below.

uncontrollably fond

Starring Kim Woo Bin and Suzy

A meeting of some of the hottest stars around: Kim Woo Bin and Suzy. Kim Woo Bin plays a top celebrity who is aloof and prickly: the classic bad boy. Completely the opposite, Suzy plays a documentary producer who is powerless in the face of authority. “Uncontrollably Fond” is their love story, and as high profile as the main couple is, we can’t wait to see how writer Lee Kyung Hee delivers this one.

“Uncontrollably Fond” airs on July 6. Watch the trailer below!

Starring Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo

Lee Jong Suk, known for his ability to have amazing chemistry with anyone and everyone, meets Han Hyo Joo, who is making her long-awaited drama comeback with “W.” The drama, apart from the powerhouse leads, boasts a unique, intriguing premise: cross-dimensional romance — riddled with conflict and crises — between Han Hyo Joo, who plays a resident cardiothoracic doctor in the real world, and Lee Jong Suk, who plays a wealthy businessman and gold medalist living in the world of a webtoon.

“W” airs on July 20. Watch the trailer below!

Starring Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung

This is Park Bo Gum’s first return after tvN’s “Reply 1988,” which really shot him to fame, and Kim Yoo Jung’s first lead drama role. Based off of a web novel by Yoon Yi Soo, this is a story of young love between Park Bo Gum, a prince, and Kim Yoo Jung, a cross-dressing girl who ends up in the palace as a eunuch.

“Moonlight Drawn By the Clouds” airs next month, August 15.

“Scarlet Heart: Goryeo”

Starring Lee Joon Gi and IU

Lee Joon Gi, an actor who rocks the sageuk, teams up with IU, who is taking another meaningful step in her acting career. Also bringing us the largest cast of beautiful men — including Kang Ha Neul, Ji Soo, Nam Joo Hyuk, Hong Jong Hyun, Baekhyun — that we’ve ever seen, this drama, full of love and political intrigue, is one to add to your watch list.

“Scarlet Heart: Goryeo” airs next month, August 29.

“Legend of the Blue Sea” (tentative English title)

Starring Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho

The writer of “My Love From the Star,” Park Ji Eun, is back, and she’s brought together a pair of leads we probably thought we’d never see together. The drama is a fantasy romance that takes the motif of the mermaid story from Korea’s first historical storybook. No further details have been revealed about the characters or their romance, but until then, we have all these other dramas to invest our hearts in.

“Legend of the Blue Sea” is slated to air in November.

Which of these dramas will you be tuning in to?
