Lee Hyori Keeps Proving Herself A TV Ratings Hit, Raising Struggling Ratings Of "Happy Together 3"

The staple variety talk show from KBS – “Happy Together” –  has been struggling with low ratings for many months, but with the most recent guest appearance by singer Lee Hyori, the show saw a large increase in ratings.

According to Nielsen Korea, the show recorded 7 percent in viewership ratings for its most recent episode (part 2) that aired on July 6, going up 3 percent from last week’s episode. The first part of the July 6 episode recorded 5.8 percent, an increase of 1.8 percent from last week’s episode part 1.

Lee Hyori is proving herself to a ratings hit guarantee, with her own reality TV show on cable network JTBC – “Hyori’s Homestay” –  recording 11.14 percent in Seoul (according to ATAM) for its premiere.

The singer’s appearance also increased the ratings of the MBC variety talk show “Radio Star,” which recorded 8.8and 8.7 percent for parts 1 and 2, respectively, of its July 5 episode. This was a 2.9 percent and 2.7 percent increase, respectively, from last week’s episode.

Viewers have reacted positively to Lee Hyori’s long-awaited return to television, praising her honesty, straightforwardness, and wit on the variety shows.
