Koreans Name Their Favorite Drama Couples With Large Age Gaps

Many drama couples have proven time and time again that age is but a number, and the couple from the currently-airing JTBC’s “Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food” is just one of those examples.

Online research company PMI recently conducted a survey asking those in their 20s to 50s what they thought was the best drama couple with a notable age difference, excluding Jung Hae In and Son Ye Jin from “Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food.”

In first place was the “Song-Song couple” from KBS2’s 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun” with 32.3 percent of the votes. Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo not only captured viewers of all genders and ages with their chemistry, but their onscreen romance also evolved into something more. The couple got married in October 2017 after dating for an unrevealed amount of time.

Although it has been nearly 13 years since it aired, many people remember the iconic Kim Sun Ah-Hyun Bin couple from MBC’s “My Name is Kim Sam Soon.” It garnered 19.3 percent of votes, making it the second most popular couple in the survey. The drama hit peak ratings of over 50 percent and is still well-loved to this day.

With their characters having a nine-year age difference, Lee Bo Young and Lee Jong Suk from SBS’s “I Hear Your Voice” came in third place with 8 percent of the votes. In fourth place was Joo Won and Moon Chae Won from KBS2’s “Good Doctor,” and the Go Hyun Jung-Jo In Sung couple from tvN’s “Dear My Friends” was in fifth place.
