Park Yoochun’s Name To Remain On Fan-Donated Cherry Blossom Path Until Final Verdict

Park Yoochun’s name will remain on a cherry blossom path in Incheon for the time being.

On April 19, a source from the Incheon Gyeyang District Volunteer Organization revealed that no action will be taken unless a guilty verdict is made.

They said, “Unless there is a guilty verdict, nothing regarding Park Yoochun’s Cherry Blossom Path will be touched. The mural is being torn down because it’s worn out.”

The source explained, “Of the total 2600 meters (approximately 8,530 feet) of Park Yoochun’s Cherry Blossom Path, 300 meters (approximately 984 feet) were planted with 55 cherry blossom trees from the money donated by Park Yoochun’s fan cafe ‘Blessing Yoochun.’ Out of the total 14 murals, the fan cafe said they would do one, and that was done in 2013.”

They continued, “The mural became worn out, so we were planning to gradually change it since August. Us changing it is unrelated to Park Yoochun’s situation.”

The path has a sign that states that it was created with donations from Park Yoochun’s fans. Under the trees, there are wooden nameplates with lines from Park Yoochun’s dramas.

When asked about the possibility of removing these items, the source from the Incheon Gyeyang District Volunteer Organization replied, “We’re a democratic country where you’re innocent until proven guilty. Park Yoochun has not yet been sent to the prosecutor’s office and has not been forwarded to trial. He’s being investigated under suspicion of drug use. We cannot touch anything until there’s a guilty verdict. We’re not going to. Donors donated this. It’s not a matter where we should randomly get rid of it due to public opinion.”

Park Yoochun is suspected of purchasing and using Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) with his ex-girlfriend Hwang Ha Na. On April 16, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Agency’s Drug Investigation Unit conducted a search and seizure where 11 police officers searched his home, car, and cell phone. They also obtained a hair sample for drug testing.

On April 17 and 18, Park Yoochun attended police questioning. The police are questioning the singer-actor based on circumstantial evidence, and Park Yoochun has denied all allegations.

Meanwhile, the District of Gangnam expressed the opposite sentiment of the Incheon Gyeyang District, deciding yesterday to remove Roy Kim’s name from the Roy Kim Forest, also a donation by fans of the singer, in light of the recent criminal investigations into him.
