GOT7 Shares Reaction To 1st BBMAs Nomination + Hopes For Stadium Concert

GOT7 talked about receiving their first ever Billboard Music Awards nomination!

On May 20, the group made a comeback with their new mini album “Spinning Top.” During an interview with Joy News 24, they mentioned being nominated for the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. “We were grateful and surprised,” they said.

GOT7 was selected as a nominee for the Top Social Artist award this year alongside BTS, EXO, Ariana Grande, and Louis Tomlinson, with BTS winning the award.

Yugyeom said, “I wasn’t disappointed at all that we didn’t win. It was amazing that we were nominated. I was so surprised that we’d been named as a ‘Billboard Nominee.'” JB made the others laugh when he said, “I was [disappointed.]”

JB said, “I think it’s time for our dreams to get bigger.” He added, “We’re aiming to keep working hard. It was great and amazing to be nominated. Just the fact that we were nominated made me feel like ‘Oh.’ It was like seeing a light.”

GOT7 has been gaining popularity worldwide since their debut in 2014. After holding a large-scale world tour last year, they’re headed on an even bigger world tour this year.

When talking about the group’s popularity, BamBam said, “We’re so grateful for our international popularity. Whenever I go home [to Thailand], the welcome is so warm. We haven’t been able to spend as much promoting there as in Korea or Japan, but they recognized me to a surprising degree.”

When asked what the reason is for their popularity, Yugyeom said with a laugh that it’s because they’re all handsome. He added, “I think it’s because people see an honesty from us, since our closeness isn’t fake.” JB commented, “We have members who are good at English and members who are good at Chinese. We are able to communicate in many different languages. I think that’s contributed to it.”

The group was also asked to name a goal that they want to achieve in terms of international performances. BamBam replied, “I want to do a world tour stadium concert. For now we’ll focus on our world tour.” JB replied, “I hope that our album will be nominated at many award shows and receive awards too.”
