“Love With Flaws” Flips The Script On Typical Romantic Comedy Dramas
MBC’s newest drama “Love with Flaws” is drawing in viewers by completely breaking the script of your usual romantic comedy.
The drama, which stars Oh Yeon Seo and Ahn Jae Hyun, is a refreshing new take on the genre. One of the reasons so many viewers are charmed by “Love with Flaws” is the eccentric cast of characters. In particular, Lee Kang Woo’s (Ahn Jae Hyun) vain personality is often counter-acted by his persistent irritable bowel syndrome, leading to some hilarious scenes.
The drama doesn’t take itself too seriously, which lends to some seriously high quality satire. The counter-balance between superficial characters and odd physiological responses makes for the comedic drama that “Love with Flaws” prides itself on.
It isn’t just the main cast who provide comedic relief, either. The supporting cast pulls their weight in creating hilarious situations they then have to resolve. One such instance is Joo Seo Yeon’s (Oh Yeon Seo) colleague and friend, Kim Mi Kyung (played by Kim Seul Gi). In one scene, Kim Mi Kyung chugs an entire whipped drink while complaining about old-fashioned comments she’d heard. Joo Seo Yeon’s brothers also add to the drama’s charm.
A lot of the atmosphere is created not just by the actors themselves, but by the production crew in charge of editing the scenes together. In fact, many viewers have commented that the show is more cartoon-like than drama-like in its editing, creating a playful and fun drama.
“Love with Flaws” airs on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8:55 p.m. KST. If you haven’t already, you can start watching by clicking the link below!
