ARMY Can't Get Enough Of BTS's

BTS’s J-Hope just dropped an epic new comeback trailer for “Map of the Soul: 7,” and fans are shook!

BTS typically gears up for the release of a new album by dropping a solo track and music video starring one of the members, with the song later included on the album as an intro. However, they switched things up this time around by releasing not one, but two solo tracks from their upcoming album: after Suga blew fans’ minds with his powerful “Interlude: Shadow” comeback trailer last month, J-Hope has now added to the excitement with a captivating new video for “Outro: Ego.”

Even before the comeback trailer’s release on February 3 at midnight KST, ARMY took over Twitter by trending the hashtags #EgoIsComing and #EGOComebackTrailer at No. 1 and No. 2 worldwide as they eagerly anticipated the new track. And once the video dropped at midnight, they went on to completely dominate Twitter’s list of worldwide trends with “Ego”-related hashtags and phrases, including #EgoIsHere, “Hoseok,” “Hobi,” #EgoByJhope, and #CheckYourEgo, amongst others.

J-Hope’s exultant “Ego” trailer surprised fans with its sharp contrast to BTS’s pre-release track “Black Swan” and Suga’s darker, brooding “Shadow” trailer from January—and they were here for it.

Fans were also quick to draw comparisons between the two “Map of the Soul: 7” trailers’ messages and imagery, with some fans even bringing RM‘s “Persona” comeback trailer for BTS’s 2019 mini album “Map of the Soul: Persona” into the mix.

ARMY also immediately noticed that “Ego” begins with a reference to “Intro: 2 Cool 4 Skool,” the intro from BTS’s 2013 debut mini album “2 Cool 4 Skool,” before flashing back through a quick montage of BTS’s past music videos.

So far, each of BTS’s “Map of the Soul” comeback trailers has referenced one of BTS’s first three albums, known as the group’s “School Trilogy.” “Persona” referenced the intro to “Skool Luv Affair,” while “Shadow” referenced the intro to “O!RUL8,2?

Tying in their latest trailer for “Ego,” one fan made a super-cool compilation video comparing each of the “Map of the Soul” trailers to its “School Trilogy” counterpart.
