Cube Entertainment gave a statement to news outlets following Lai Kuanlin’s announcement about their legal battle.

On the evening of May 20, a source from Cube told Newsen, “On May 19, the Seoul High Court decided to dismiss the appellate trial over our agency artist Lai Kuanlin’s request to suspend his exclusive contract with our company.”  They added, “Our company respects the court’s decision and we plan to amicably resolve this through talks with him.”

Lai Kuanlin has shared that he has filed an appeal in his legal battle with Cube Entertainment.

Last July, Lai Kuanlin filed a termination request for his contract with the agency, with his legal representatives explaining that the decision was made as Cube had taken actions that violated their contract, including selling his management rights to a third party, leading to Lai Kuanlin losing trust in the agency. Cube responded that they had acted with permission from Lai Kuanlin, which prompted a second response from his legal representatives countering their statements. In November, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed Lai Kuanlin’s request to suspend his exclusive contract with Cube.

On May 19, Lai Kuanlin took to his Weibo account to share a statement from his legal representatives Shanghai TianSun Law Firm and said, “Thank you for the faith and encouragement you have shared in these difficult times, and I will continue to work hard.”

In the statement, his legal representatives state, “The decision to dismiss our client’s request to suspend his exclusive contract with his Korean agency is currently in appellate court proceedings.”

They continued to state, “Our client wishes to express gratitude to Cube Entertainment for the stage opportunities they have provided. Although we have tried to search for a peaceful resolution of good faith, the dispute has continued between the two parties and has had a severe effect on our client.”

Their statement continued, “Lai Kuanlin will continue to focus his activities in China and return with even better work in the future.”
