Updated March 17 KST:

BLACKPINK’s Rosé broke the record for K-pop soloists with the 24-hour debut YouTube views on “On the Ground”!

On March 16, YouTube stated that Rosé’s “On the Ground” MV garnered 41.6 million views in the first 24 hours after it was released on March 12 at 2 p.m. KST. This breaks the record for K-pop soloists set by PSY in 2013 with “Gentleman.”

In addition, there were about 1.2 million viewers on the MV’s premiere, meaning “On the Ground” achieved the most viewers on a solo artist’s music video for a YouTube Premiere.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s new music video racked up an amazing number of views within the first 24 hours of its release!

On March 12 at 2 p.m. KST, Rosé made her long-awaited solo debut with her first single album “R” and its accompanying title track “On The Ground.”

24 hours later, on March 13 at 2 p.m. KST, Rosé’s music video for “On The Ground” had already amassed a total of 39,062,601 views on YouTube.

Although YouTube has not yet confirmed the music video’s official 24-hour view count, it appears that “On The Ground” may have set a new record for the highest number of views achieved by a K-pop soloist’s music video in its first 24 hours.

If YouTube confirms the figure, Rosé will have broken the previous record of 36 million set by PSY’s 2013 hit “Gentleman,” which has remained unbeaten for 8 years.

Congratulations to Rosé!
