Watch: “Kingdom” Reveals Results Of Fan Vote + Kicks Off Cover Battle With Epic Performances

The competition is heating up on Mnet’s “Kingdom: Legendary War”!

On April 22, the idol competition show revealed the fan voting results from Round 1—and kicked off Round 2 with several jaw-dropping performances.

The episode began with hosts TVXQ informing the contestants that the theme of the second official round of competition was “Re-Born,” meaning that they were tasked with covering and reinterpreting a song by one of the other groups.

As ATEEZ took first place in both the contestants’ votes and expert judges’ evaluations in the first round, they were given the opportunity to choose the group with whom they wanted to swap songs—and after a brief discussion, they chose iKON. Stray Kids, who came in second place in the two categories, selected BTOB. Finally, THE BOYZ and SF9 were automatically paired up with one another.

On the day of the battle, each of the pairs of groups performed back-to-back, with SF9 and THE BOYZ up first, iKON and ATEEZ next, and BTOB and Stray Kids last. SF9 added a cinematic twist to THE BOYZ’s “The Stealer,” THE BOYZ lit up the stage with SF9’s “O Sole Mio,” and iKON put their own spin on ATEEZ’s “Inception.”

At the very end of the episode, “Kingdom” also unveiled the second half of the results from Round 1.

As previously announced, the “Kingdom” contestants will be awarded points over the course of the competition based on the following criteria: votes by the six competing groups (25 percent), evaluations by a panel of 30 experts (25 percent), domestic and global fan votes (40 percent), and video view count (10 percent).
