Watch: Han Hyo Joo, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Kwang Soo, EXO's Sehun, And More Star In Action-Packed Trailer For "The Pirates" Sequel
The highly-anticipated sequel to the hit film “The Pirates” has released its first trailer!
“The Pirates: Goblin Flag,” the long-awaited sequel to the 2014 movie “The Pirates,” is a period action-adventure comedy about a group of fortune-seekers who take to the high seas searching for lost treasure.
Kang Ha Neul will star in the film as Woo Moo Chi, a bandit leader who claims to be the top swordsman in Goryeo, while Han Hyo Joo will star as the tough pirate captain and ship owner Hae Rang. Lee Kwang Soo will play Mak Yi, who dreams of becoming a pirate king; EXO’s Sehun will play Han Goong, a talented archer; and Kwon Sang Woo will play villain Boo Heung Soo, a rebel who also sets his sights on the lost treasure.
The exciting new trailer begins with a glimpse of the hidden treasure and all the different characters who are desperately searching for it. Woo Moo Chi tells his crew with a look of frustration, “Treasure! Treasure!” Meanwhile, Mak Yi appears to be telling everyone on his ship a story—but as they all stare at him expectantly, he irritates them by suddenly asking, “Wait, where were we?”
The trailer goes on to humorously tease the arduous journey that lies ahead of the pirates, which will include storms, an earthquake, and many more daunting obstacles. At one point, Woo Moo Chi says, “I’ll stay here and guard the ship,” but an unamused Hae Rang responds by kicking him off her ship with a wry smile.
Amidst flashes of the high-intensity action, the captions promise a mix of “action, comedy, and love.” The clip ends with Hae Rang asking Woo Moo Chi with a determined glint in her eye, “Shall we go?” He replies, “Should we?”
“The Pirates: Goblin Flag” will be released in 2022 over the New Year holiday. In the meantime, check out the new trailer below!
