BTS, Stray Kids, SEVENTEEN, BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, And TXT Make IFPI’s 2022 Global Album Chart

Various K-pop stars have made IFPI’s new Global Album Chart!

Earlier this week, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) – a non-profit organization that represents the music recording industry worldwide – named BTS, SEVENTEEN, and Stray Kids to its annual ranking of top global artists.

On February 24 local time, the IFPI revealed its annual Global Albums Chart, which measures all consumption formats throughout a calendar year including physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming platforms, and is weighted based on the relative value of each method. Making it to the top 10 were BTS, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, and BLACKPINK, while TXT and ENHYPEN ranked in the top 20.

The highest entry for a K-pop act this year was BTS’s anthology album “Proof” coming in at No. 4. Not only did Stray Kids and SEVENTEEN both earn top 10 entries, but each group had two albums in the top 20. Stray Kids’ latest mini album “MAXIDENT” was ranked in No. 6 while “ODDINARY” hit No. 14, and SEVENTEEN’s “Face the Sun” placed in No. 7 with “SECTOR 17” coming in at No. 18.

Three groups made their debut on the Global Albums Chart, with BLACKPINK earning their first entry in the top 10 with “BORN PINK” at No. 8. ENHYPEN’s first appearance on the chart came with “MANIFESTO: DAY 1” debuting at No. 11 and TXT made their debut at No. 16 with “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child.”
