CJ ENM has announced their 2024 Visionary picks!

On January 3, CJ ENM announced their selection of pioneering figures who present new visions to K-entertainment with their originality.

The 2024 Visionary includes author Kang Full, director Kim Yong Hoon, Ryu Seung Ryong, Monika, Song Hye Kyo, Stray Kids, and Uhm Jung Hwa.

Song Hye Kyo and director Kim Yong Hoon were chosen as figures who inspired creators and the industry through their relatable portrayal of realistic fantasy. In particular, Song Hye Kyo was praised for her stellar acting transformation in “The Glory,” which recorded over 600 million watch hours in the first half of 2023 with Part 1.

Kim Yong Hoon is the director behind “Mask Girl,” which is a project that deals with difficult societal issues. The director is a key player who shook up the industry through his novel perspective, tasteful directing, and portrayal of the multifaceted nature of humans by casting three people for one role.

Uhm Jung Hwa and Stray Kids were selected for being standout artists who reinterpret unique perspectives in a way that is fitting with the current times. Uhm Jung Hwa garnered great attention as a multifaceted entertainer through her performance in the hit drama “Doctor Cha” and variety show “Dancing Queens on the Road.”

With self-produced songs and their unique style of music, Stray Kids debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with four consecutive albums. Furthermore, Stray Kids became the first fourth generation K-pop boy group to enter the Hot 100 and hold a dome tour in Japan.

Author Kang Full, Ryu Seung Ryong, and Monika are figures who expanded the target audience with their “newness.” Kang Full and Ryu Seung Ryong captivated with their creativity, giving birth to a new genre and character through the Korean hero drama “Moving.”

“Street Woman Fighter” star Monika, who also starred as a Fight Judge on Season 2, captivated viewers with her sharp and objective critiques based on empathy and affection. She broadened the field for dancers with her great passion for dance.
