Gong Yoo Transforms Into An AI Character In Special Appearance For "Wonderland" + Tang Wei Dishes On Their Chemistry

Gong Yoo will be making a special appearance in the star-studded film “Wonderland”!

“Wonderland” tells the story of people who use the Wonderland service, which allows users to reunite with their deceased loved ones through video call by reconstructing them through artificial intelligence. The star-studded cast consists of Tang Wei, Suzy, Park Bo Gum, Jung Yu Mi, and Choi Woo Shik.

Viewers are already highly anticipating the special appearance of Gong Yoo, who starred in numerous hit projects such as “Train to Busan,” “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” “Kim Ji Young, Born 1982,” “The Age of Shadows,” “Silenced,” and more. The actor further garnered attention globally through his special appearance in “Squid Game.”

Gong Yoo will be playing the role of AI Sung Joon who communicates with the Wonderland service’s planners while keeping an eye on the emotional changes of AI Bai Li (Tang Wei) who has been constructed as an archaeologist through the Wonderland service.

Director Kim Tae Yong, who created the character Sung Joon after being inspired by his meeting with Gong Yoo, shared, “Since he is an AI character that carries out the task of managing the AI within Wonderland while also being a friend, he needed to be both cool yet warm, and there was no other actor like Gong Yoo [for the role]. He is warmhearted and thoughtful, and he is an actor with romantic tension.”

Tang Wei further shared, “I didn’t feel a language barrier thanks to Gong Yoo’s English skills. I had such an enjoyable time while filming, and I felt a sense of brotherhood,” raising anticipation for their chemistry.
