Park Bo Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Kwang Soo, And More Confirmed For New Drama 'Gold Land'

Park Bo Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Hee Won, Moon Jung Hee, and Lee Kwang Soo are set to star in the new drama “Gold Land”!

“Gold Land” follows Hee Joo (Park Bo Young), a security screening officer at an international airport who unexpectedly comes into possession of gold bars tied to an illegal smuggling ring. As those around her become consumed by greed and betrayal, Hee Joo is drawn into a dangerous battle—not just with others, but with her own growing desire to keep the gold.

Park Bo Young takes on the role of Kim Hee Joo, a woman who undergoes a dramatic transformation while trying to protect the gold. Her performance is expected to serve as a central anchor for the series.

Park Bo Young said, “I’m excited to try a new genre. The process in which Hee Joo, who seemed uninterested in gold, changes as she becomes obsessed with human nature and desires will be portrayed in an interesting way.”

Kim Sung Cheol plays Jang Wook, a low-ranking member of a loan shark ring known as Woo Gi. After learning that Hee Joo possesses the gold his group is after, he approaches her pretending to help—though his true motives remain ambiguous.

Kim Sung Cheol said, “Woo Gi is a challenging character, and I saw it as a chance to show a different side of myself. I’m also excited about the chemistry I’ll build with Hee Joo.” His performance is expected to bring suspense and complexity, portraying a character who appears trustworthy but is always just one step from betrayal.

Lee Hyun Wook stars as Lee Do Kyung, an airline co-pilot and Hee Joo’s romantic partner who lures her into the smuggling scheme. His character adds emotional intensity to the narrative, raising the question of whether Do Kyung truly loves Hee Joo—or is merely using her.

Lee Hyun Wook said, “There were many parts that I was looking forward to after seeing the fresh material in the script. With overseas location filming also planned, I think the series will offer a lot of visual appeal.”

Kim Hee Won appears as Kim Jin Man, a seasoned detective in the violent crimes unit at the Jeongsan Police Department. Known for his grounded, compelling performances, Kim Hee Won is expected to bring realism and gravity to the role.

Kim Hee Won said, “I’ve been having a lot of conversations with the director and continue to explore Jin Man’s character. I’m thinking about his emotional journey, past experiences, and the choices he’d realistically make as a detective.”

Moon Jung Hee plays Yeo Sun Ok, Hee Joo’s mother. Their complex, love-hate relationship adds depth to the emotional landscape of the story. Moon Jung Hee said, “I’ve always been impressed by director Kim Seong Hun’s unique work. I have high expectations for this project as the director’s style really comes through.”

Lee Kwang Soo takes on the role of Director Park, who oversees Geumseong, a lower-tier branch of the Gold Land hotel casino operation. Lee Kwang Soo said, “It was a script that people of all ages can enjoy. Every character feels vivid and full of life. I’ve been thinking a lot and researching how to bring those emotions to the screen.”

“Gold Land” is set to premiere via Disney+ in 2026.
